Rating: 4 StarsI thought this a very good second installment to the Galactic Alliance series. I loved both the MCs and thought they had great chemistry together. I thought the story itself was really good. I really felt for Darien and everything he went through in the second half of the book.
I almost didn’t read it since I was a bit disappointed in the previous book in the series. I’m glad I took a chance on it though, because it was really good. Personally, I don’t see any need to read the first book in the series prior to reading this one. It can definitely stand alone.

Alien 'n' Outlaw Galactic Alliance Book 2 edition by KC Burn Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I have to say, I didn't love this story. Part of it was the fact that it was difficult for me to get into a purple, bald alien with an extra-wide mouth and skin that felt like suede. Another was the way the human, Darien, kept saying and thinking "Starbursts!" It made me feel like I was reading a Scooby-doo episode. (Think--Zonkers!) I'm assuming it was supposed to be some futuristic curse word or something, but it just sounded ridiculous. Other than that, there just wasn't much to the whole story. The more I read, the more I found myself skimming. Even the sex wasn't super hot. I never felt particularly invested in the relationship between R'kos (which was supposed to be so hard to say, Darien called him "Ricky") and Darien.) All in all, I didn't find it a good read.
Thoroughly enjoyed!
I love this series and this author so much. I can't wait for the next book in the series.
4.5 stars
I did not expect to get emotional reading this book, but the author has a way of writing that I could not hold back a few tears. Great love story just the right amount of romance adventure and plot for my liking.
This is for the three book series - Galactic Alliance. Each book is standalone, but each also refers to characters and incidents in the previous books. So you should read in order. Each is essentially a love-at-first-sight scenario and the journey to make it happen. There is hot sex (hot alien sex in the second book *yea*), good action, and some plot twists. I hope there are more installments to come.
Liked the 1st book in series better - Solace & Spice (borrowed from my local library's online collection but was only one they had so I bought this one). I got them for hot MM sex scenes, but turned out I actually read the story & enjoyed it. Still traditional cookie cutter plots/setups (something bad happened in my past so now I don't trust anyone & the silly secrets both keep & don't talk about which cause trouble but find out & break up then forgive & get back together & live happily ever after - you know what I mean!!) but with a fun alien/sci fi futuristic twist nicely done & more interesting characters. Would've liked more sex & more dominance from one of the 'alpha' males. Sex scenes were much more nicely done than most books out there, more sensitive w/o being sappy & unrealistic (as I imagine it at least, as I'm female). This is a good combo of story & sex. I found myself reading the whole thing - wanting to know what happened next instead of just skimming til the next hot scene as usual. Not many get me doing that! I still liked the 1st book better but I'd probably check out the 3rd when it comes out, if only for the story!
I've been looking forward to this second book in Burn's Elora Ki based series since I finished reading Spice `n' Solace earlier this year. Alien `n' Outlaw follows the alien negotiator we met in the earlier book. In this book overcoming some very serious cultural differences is a huge stumbling block for the unlikely love affair between R'kos, son of the Ankylos Emperor, and Darien, a human Robinhood type who lives always on the run and very much alone.Burn has a serious talent for making all of her characters richly drawn and complex. In this story, she did an amazing job of using R'kos' alienness as a source of trouble and conflict in the story. R'kos may be humanoid but he is still very different culturally and physically.
Beyond the well drawn relationship journey in this story, there is also plenty of action and adventure as R'kos helps Darien escape the people chasing him in the opening of the book, then joins him on his black-market trade route designed to help folks in desperate need. On the journey, they learn a great deal about each other and must face danger, treachery, and sacrifice before reaching their happy ending.
Once again, I am blown away by this series and the very talented KC Burns!
